What do you think about Lily Allen possibly being the Doctor's new assistant!

Question: I have heard a rumour that Lily Allen is set to take over from Catherine Tate as the Doctor's new assistant in the fifth series.

Personally I'm unsure, but I felt the exact same thing about Billie Piper. I became quite fond of her and I was quite sad when she decided to leave the show.

This is only a rumour, and it has not been confirmed - or denied - by anybody with links to the show. Do you think Lily Allen would make a good assistant, or are you dreading the possibility? Do you think that anyone else would be a better assistant?

Since this rumour originated from a story in the Sun Newspaper, I wouldn't take it too seriously.

If it did turn out to be true, I think she might actually be pretty good. She would certainly be an asset to the series if she can act as well as her Dad can.

Mind you, the same story in The Sun claimed that David Tennant is leaving at the end of series 4 to be replaced by John Simm, which we know isn't true since the BBC confirmed that Tennant will continue as the Doctor till at least Christmas 2009 and have strongly hinted that he will be in series 5 in 2010 as well. So don't believe any Doctor Who rumours in the press (especially from the Sun and news of the World), unless they are confirmed by the BBC.

aw shes much more talented than that what ya doin lilly

I think it's an Ugly rumour!

I think she'll make a great assistant. Can't wait...

Should make my trips to the doc interesting. Wonder if she'll be miserable like all doctor's receptionists.

Hmm..I like Lily, myself - well her music anyway. As a children's TV actress? Hmm, can't see it myself - but then again, everyone thought Billie would be bad and she ended up being actually very good. Who knows?

i think she'd be great, i can just imagine it now.

Billie Piper was great, I loved her on the show. I think they should bring her back, whatever it takes, and maybe make HER the doctor, by having her get in some life threatening situation, and have her transfused with the Doctor's DNA.
I don't know about Lily, I'd have to see. Maybe I can accept her........ but billie's the best.

I think with the new doctor whos, there was only one doctors assistant and that was rose tyler. I warmed to Martha but i cant get used to catherine tate as donna. Obviously i've only seen her in one episode so far, but that was enough for me to see that she should stick to her comedy, she just doesnt fit right with david tennant. I wish billie would come back.

Lily may be okay but i dont know.

Why can't the doctor encounter one of his old pals again? Like Adric (he died, I know), Romana, Tegan, Ace (Sophie Aldred) or that bird with the bikini. I think it would help to reinforce the storyline. I still want David Tennant to walk out of the tardis, go round a corner and bump into Tom Baker and K-9 coming the other way. As for Lily Allen......Nah!

OMG what a dreadful thought - I hope it's just a rumour. I can't even bear the idea of Catherine Tate as the Doctor's assistant. I think I might have to stop being a Dr Who fan :o(

i think lilly would make a good assistant but i don't want her to replace catherine.

I posted the same sort of question last week about Lily Allen being the Doctors next assistant.
Yes she would make a good assistant but that would be down to her Dad the actor Keith Allen for she comes from an acting family i.e. her Mother is a casting director and her younger Brother Alfie Allen is an actor too, but she is a singer and a good one to that, well if you call it singing (rapping).
Let's not forget that Billie Piper started out as a pop singer then turned to acting.
So i say we better whate and see what will happen next.
