Question: Do you know the name of the collar?

Answers: Do you know the name of the collar?

Is this a question about a type of dog collar? I didn't see that show, but I can tell you:

The Promise Collar
Gentle-Leader
Halti-head
are three different types of dog collars that all function essentially like a horse's halter:
Where the head goes, the body follows!

I like Halti best, but you should check the underside--the part that will lay in contact on your dog's head, neck, and snoot-- and trim off any stray thread--they can be stiff, and considering how I feel about certain tags in my clothes, I'm sure they'd be uncomfortable/irritating if not trimmed.

Actually, this may be a thing to check for on the Gentle Leader and Promise Collar, as well. The snoot is a sensitive area for a dog, and all these things wrap around their snoot in one way or another.

The reason I like the Halti best is because it is most like a horse halter, and there is "give" in the strap that goes over the snoot, that adjusts as the dog forges, lags, or heels. I recall Promise Collars being static on the snoot. Promise Collars and Gentle Leaders are available in colors, so if you're concerned with fashion, the black Halti may not be the flash you crave... but I prefer to use equipment that 1st addresses the physical comfort of the pooch over my desire for a standard of socially accepted beauty :)

Any of these 3 would be superior to the chain link "choke" collar, and while a pinch collar (the one with prongs) may be the training device required by some dogs, the human *must* be trained by someone who knows how to fit and work with a pinch collar in order for it to be effective. A pinch collar, despite it's appearance to us humans, is more humane than the chain link choke collar, but neither the chain nor the pinch collar should be on a dog when you are not specifically training the dog. Both the chain and the pinch collar should be removed and only a regular buckling collar (leather, cloth, nylon weave) used when you are not training your pup to do something specific!
