Anyone else annoyed with the fact that (Captain) Riker is the Captain of TITAN a!

Question: Wasn't the whole subtle idea buried throughout TNG that someday Will Riker would command the Enterprise, whether D or E or whatever, as its CAPTAIN? Wasn't this Riker's ultimate goal in life? He underscored this again in the final scene of Star Trek: Generations! Several TNG episodes were centered around Riker getting offers to be captain of various ships, but he always turned them down. Why? Because none of these ships were Enterprise and he literally loved Enterprise and her crew. I understand the new folklore of the U.S.S. Titan and all but I think most fans agree, he was supposed to inherit Enterprise. What happened?

Guess he loved picard to much to do him in.....cause that's the only way he was gonna get the old man outta that chair.
He finally realized that if he wanted to be the boss he was gonna have to do it somewhere else.

But don't worry, the minute Picard's artifcial heart malfuntions for the last time Riker will be in that chair large and in charge faster than Reg Barkley running from a transporter.

It has been stated that Star Trek: Titan is not part of the official Star Trek canon (along with most everything Star Trek related that is not featured on TV or in the movies) which basically means that it is an alternate future timeline that was changed around for that series of books. Even though Riker's command is mentioned in Star Trek: Nemesis, it is one of the exceptions to the Star Trek canon rule.
