Am I breaking the law?!
Question: Hello, I watch quite a few films online, ie from http://www.ovguide.com/ etc. Recently I've read in Yahoo Answers that doing this is illegal. In the UK TV links was recently shut down and the owner of the site arrested, so is viewing films also illegal?

Officially, yes, you're breaking the law by watching a movie which is still under copyright.
I don't think the police will be beating down your door for watching, but local people where I live have been arrested for further distributing movies they downloaded from pirate sites.

If the broadcaster is using a copy of the program without permission of the producer I believe you are receiving stolen goods
Yep it's illegal. You can view the site but as soon as you download anything you are breaking the law xxxx
not sure about this site but any file sharing network is technically illegal. the law is very odd. it is not illegal for you to have these programs on your computer but it is illegal for you to download from them (why?). You can be fined a hell of a lot of money if you are caught as they see it as stealing cause you do not pay for the copyright.

Lucky you! You are not breaking the law, at least not in the US, I can't speak to UK law. You can WATCH the film online and you are protected under the freedom of information act. The key word, of course, is watch. If you do anything else, sell, download, spread around, etc. etc. you are breaking the law.
OH MY GOD!!! If you get caught, you know what they will do to you??? you will get 5 years in clink!! Beware, the coppers have nothing better to do with their time, and murderers get a lighter sentence than pirateing
