The 1951 B&W version staring Alistair Sim as Scrooge.

I'm a Christamas Carol junkie and I'll watch a TV show I've never watched before if I find they're doing a version. I've got 6 copies of the story and pick up every version I find on DVD (or VHS). I had 2 VHS tapes full of different TV versions (lost them, long story) I even found the old Mr. Magoo version ;) Oh, I've also seen it done live once and hope to again!

I meant "A Christmas Carol" although I am addicted to "A Christmas Story." Some of it was filmed in my neighborhood--the mall part where the children slide down the pretend snow. Report It

  • Easily the best is Scrooged with Bill Murray.

My favorite version of "A Christmas Carol" was a one-man stage performance which I saw Patrick Stewart perform at my college. Got to sit down and talk to him for a few minutes at the foot of the stage after the show -- this was at the apex of my Star Trek: The Next Generation -geekdom, so it was a REAL thrill.

Of the television and/or film versions... Hmmmm - I think the Muppet's version with Michael Caine was pretty darn good!

My all time favorite is the original in black and white.

    The 1938 version.
