OMG this was ridiculous, i really don't understand how there makin this out to be a big emotional thing, they are all crying and sh!t WHY??? i don't get it, they did this to themselves, and now they just showed there house and its completely redone and they got all new furniture and appliances all kinds of sh!t, and again WHY?? why are they getting all new nice FREE stuff, what as a reward for living like pigs huh??, so all i have to do to get a beautiful redone house with all nice stuff is to let everything get out of control where i can barley walk hmm..., really this was stupid!!

normally, i don't watch the show but, the preview caught my eye. you shouldn't be too quick to judge that woman. she has a few emotional issues and hoarding was her way of dealing with them.

Like 'racer 51' said, the woman has emotional problems.
Also, like the kids and husband said, it gradually got that way. It didn't happen overnight, and once they became aware of it, it was more than they could handle. When the oldest son went home and looked at it, he was tired just from looking at the mess and was so overcome with the task of where to start. Thus Oprah enters the picture.

Obviously anyone who does that kind of thing has bigger issues going on that manifest themselves in hoarding. And her compulsive shopping. I really felt for her because it's something she couldn't help doing because it had taken control of her. Personally I couldn't imagine living in what they were living in. I have stuff and find it impossible to part with but it's just the usual things people never get around to throwing away or find hard to. But I know one day I will have had enough of it and will get rid of it. I hope she gets the help she needs cuz just getting rid of her things isn't going to solve the real problem here.

well I really hope they donated a lot of that stuff. It wasnt filth, it was things she bought from stores. She has some very deep issues, I dont know why though her hubby didnt help earlier.

There were a lot of "root issues" that caused the woman to hoard and don't forget... her house didn't get like that overnight. It was years worth of build up and not dealing with what was going on emotionally.

We should never be quick to judge other people because we haven't walked in her shoes. I'm looking forward to seeing the big reveal today.
