Acme Hour??!

Question: I was looking around Wikipedia and found a small article about Acme Hour, a show that aired on CartoonNetwork late at night, that played classic cartoon shows. It said it was never aired during the day because of the "content".
What kind of content would those old shows have that would make them not be allowed to air during the day?

The Acme Hour aired on the Cartoon Network either late at night or early in the morning, usually about 5 a.m. It showed classic Warner Brothers cartoons from the thirties and the forties with a lot of racist content, which is why in today's world of politically correct everything, they chose not to air it during the daytime hours (between 8 a.m. and 11 p.m.).

Considering many of the programs that Cartoon Network airs now on Adult Swim, I would not be surprised if it was brought back on the air in the near future. In fact, the last time that it was aired regularly (a few years back), I taped several episodes of the series.

Another show similar to the Acme Hour was "Toon Heads," which showcased many of the other studios classic cartoons, sometimes with the same racist content, but with a more documentary-styled atmosphere.

I don't know if it's still on the air, but TCM had on a show called Cartoon Alley, which aired on Saturdays around 11:30 a.m. They were a bit more tame with the cartoon classics that they aired, though.
