I thought that episode was great!
My favorite quote from the whole episode was:

Brian: (opens the door) Yes Joe, everything's fine.
Joe: Ah, okay, good.
Stewie: (hiding behind the door, telling Brian what to say) Make fun of his wheelchair.

Stewie: Do it! Say "ha ha ha ha ha ha, you're in a wheelchair."

I knew that they wouldn't end the episode with Stewie dead because, like you said, you can't have Family Guy without Stewie. I thought that they would use Stewie's time machine from the episode Mind Over Murder to go back before any of this ever happened, but the simulation ending was just as good.
I love family guy! I enjoy every moment of it!

Well, I mean, I knew that Lois wasn't dead in Stewie Kills Lois, and I knew Stewie wasn't dead in Lois Kills Stewie (or rather, Peter Kills Stewie) because what's Family Guy without Stewie and Lois?
I thought it was okay.
It would've been better if the twist was some huge signal that made everyone forget what happened with Stewie and Lois, and they just returned to their normal lives.
I had a few issues with it. FOX advertised it as an American Dad-Family Guy crossover, but at best, Stan and Bullock just got a cameo, Roger the Alien had a bigger role in Meet the Quagmires.
I was pretty certain it was going to be a dream sequence or a hallucination or something. That said, I enjoyed the episode all the same, but it was quite a cop-out, but a fun cop-out nevertheless.

I'll have to wait to see it in the reruns. I was sick, forgot it was coming on and didn't get to see it. Does she actually kill Stewie? Maybe they'll have her get pregnant and he will be back in, as he said it, " that cursed womb and prison for 9 months". They can't do another Bobby Ewing in the shower thing.
