Question: I forget things very easily, and from last season to this season I have a question:
I thought the Chief retired, why is he back this season and what happened to all the shenanagans from last season about him leaving? I thought he was getting back with Adele.
Having a three year old makes you forget key plot points in shows you love and watch religiously. :) Can anyone explain for me?

he didnt retire because mc.dreamy said that he neede to have another chance at being it and hes not with adele because she doesnt want to be with him
hes there to make sure that he made the right choice with his decision with his pick for new chief and to teach them the ropes, like hes training them. and when it comes to Adele,when their niece was in the hospital and she asked him to make her do the new treatments to save her but he couldn't deny his nieces wishes so he didn't provide her with the treatment and Adele got made and was like all i asked you to do was one thing and you couldn't do it and she left him.....so yeah
