In order to be any kind of writer you have to have a thick skin, be able to ignore everyone around you and have confidence in what you do. By your statement above...it seems that you have to work on these things first.
you're not natrually funny if you have to sit and think of things to write in hopes of it being fuuny..think about it..
Well don't tell them then! Write your comedy - you may be amazing and you won't know until you try. Won't they be sick if you succeed?
Most comedians are right miserable gits!
So if you are a misery, go for it!
However, do you really understand how to put comedy together?
If you want to have a go you should do it. Start to write and see how easy the words flow. If they don't perhaps writing is not for you.
find a way to take a comedy writing course
You need to go on a creative writing course at your local night school not very expensive and you will meet people from all walks of life and also learn about the different styles of writing and the way to present it to a publisher.
Buy the writers book with all the publishers in and good tips it comes out every year very thick book but a writers bible.
Ignore what your friends are saying because when you tell anyone you want to write they fall about laughing and think you are joking.
If it is what you want to do then do it but find out all about it first and a night class is your best bet.
