Is all reality TV this staged??!

Question: So I work in a building in midtown nyc, in my building is the famous Elite Models (Yes, I have seen a lot of them including top model winners Caridee and Jaslene) and today they were filming an episode for American's Next Top Model...not the season that's on TV, obviously, but the season 10. Anyway, I was in the lobby of the building while they were waiting for the girls to come out of the building and let me tell you how FAKE it is. The made the girls go out the building and into the limo about 5 times, they just kept making them do it over and over and over again saying "more excitement ladies" and then you see the girls going "whawho" and acting all fake. It really broke my heart because it wasn't even a big deal for them to stage the excitement and if they are staging that and its something so small, what else are they staging?

I've heard similar stories...like on The Hills....There are pictures of Heidi being dropped off at the airport supposedly going on a trip...and 5 minutes later she came out of the airport and was hugging her boyfriend I think his name is Spencer in a different outfit pulling her luggage like she just got back from the trip!

I think majority of reality tv is staged. I hate to say it because i love to watch reality tv. I liked to watch flavor flav and i love new york, but i really think it is staged. Also, the apprentice is staged. Watch reality tv secrets revealed on vh1 and you will see a whole lot of things you didn't know.

Unfortunately I've heard a lot about reality t.v. being staged as well. It saddens me with Top Model, I thought it was more 'real' then that. But they do what the viewers want to see. I don't even watch the MTV reality shows, they piss me off b/c that's obviously fake.

They stage all of it. The whole thing is fake. Discovery channel (I think it was that channel) did a whole documentary style show on how fake they all are. They have scripts and writers, none of it is actually real. But people will watch it and insist that it is.

Meh! What else is new? Did you really think reality TV is ad lib? It's all kayfabe, sista!

Yeah most are, but the one that definitely isn't has to be Big Brother, it's live and it's real. Nothing fake about it, but I do think it's possible for the Diary Room people to tell them what would be a "good" idea to do or to start.

The more successful shows are supposedly this bad.

Yeah a lot of do things like that. There is a disclaimer usually in the print at the end of the shows that some scenes were edited that did not affect the outcome of the show. I have heard that on survivor the tribal council usually lasts for hours and on the show it is a few minutes as jeff probst asks lots of questions and tries to get good gossip out of them. In general though I think what they do is just to make it a little more exciting.
