Question: It's not most, it's the entire writers guild. They are on strike because they want to start receiving proceeds from DVD sales. They are tired of being the "creators" of the movies and shows and not receiving anything but there pay check for it while all the companies (universal, touch stone, paramount, etc.) are reaping the benefits.

something about the internet contributing to people watching tv and downloading movies for little or nothing and their mad about royalties or some crap like that
They're probably on strike because, maybe the writers want to have a boat come by and pick up a lot of the survivors while the big network executives want no boat no beacon of hope.
They want royalties for Downloads and DVD sales.
