Yes it is a lot funnier this year for sure with Marc Cherry back on board. Last year when he wasn't there It was rather dull and the laughs were few. Love, love, love that show. I sometimes miss bits when I'm watching so I'm sorry can't answer your other question, hopefully someone will know.

I know last season it wasn't as good but it looks like they are back on track this season. I guess he figured it out with that whole bbq fork in her stomach.
