Tv strike?!

The Producers(studios) guild doesn't want to pay the Writers royalties on the rebroadcast of their work on the internet and DVD. It's the same concept as how a songwriter makes money - they get paid a royalty when their song is used, or how an book author gets paid a percentage of each book sold.. The studios want it for free, and the writers want to be paid for their work. The actors guild is marching with the writers and isn't crossing the picket lines, because the studios/producers want to kill their royalties too. They shut down production on a bunch of shows, including Desperate Housewives because they ran out of scripts.

They should just give the writers their money. They earned it after all. And it is literally pennies. The writers get 4 cents from every DVD sold. So the studios get the rest from a $20 DVD, and the writers get 4 cents. They are paying the writers nothing at all for internet use of their work, which seems like theft to me. If I buy a song o itunes I pay for it, why shouldn't they pay to broadcast people's work? The writers should just sue them for theft.

As long as House is going to be new, I do not care.

Since the last time the writers negotiated their contract, the networks have gotten deals with digital media, like I tunes, and youtube and whatnot, but the writers need a new contract that will fairly compensate them in this new medium, among other things. And like with all disputes, since both sides dont' see eye to eye, the Writers Guild has decided to strike, leaving us with reruns and reality TV.

The writers want more money.

the writers of like almost all the nightime shows and shows like that Big Bang Theroy and shows like tht (i think they r called sitcoms) are on strike and not writing for the shows for a while...so they will show whatever amount of shows they already have recorded untill they run out then they will show sports, daytime talkshows, and reruns instead...
gameshows and reality shows will still be on tho (kid nation, survivor ect...)
thats what is up with the tv strike ..hope it helps

My *** bleeds for those $200k making writers. It's a travesty what they must be going through.
