Can anyone provide a reasonable explanation for this Star Trek inconcistency?!

Question: How come in Star Trek Voyager, it's expected to take in excess of 70 years to make it back from the Delta Quadrant, yet in the movie Star Trek 5, the Enterprise was able to reach the centre of the galaxy in a matter of hours?

Because Star Trek V was a brutally awful movie that should never be mentioned.

God did it

Dramatic license I guess.

Anyway, everyone knows "Deep space nine" was the REAL deal.

Live long and prosper Swampy:)

Its a TV program, and the people that write the episodes do so an episode at a time! They dont expect people to take it so seriously!

Different teams wrote the various Star Treks. It's difficult to remain technically consistent across all of the series and movies, especially when you consider that all of the technology is fictional.

That's because the Delta Quadrant is on the OTHER side of the centre of the Galaxy!

Didn't they use the Borg's transport system - it had "channels" all through the universe - and didn't they do it just before they destroyed it?

Warp factor 10.
