It's just the way that the schedule worked out. Besides, Halloween was in the middle of the week this year, the episode would have been nearly the same number of days away from Halloween either weekend. It's not the only show that's done this, The Simpsons halloween special, Treehouse of Horror, aired today as well.
There's nothing wrong with celebrating Halloween after Halloween, heck, I went to a Halloween party just last night.

umm because Desperate House Wives comes on on Sundays- they couldn't do one before Halloween- so they had to do it after!
