Will the shows be affected by the writers' strike?!

Question: Will we not see any new episodes of shows just because the writers go on strike? I can see why they're going on strike because they only receive pennies for every rerun and dvd sale.

Some will. Soaps, Leno, Letterman, Kimmel The Daily Show, Colbert, The Soup - those can't air and will likely go to reruns. They have scripts stockpiled for many series, but they will only last until the new year. Shows that have odd schedules, like 24 will really be in trouble if the strike lasts a long time, since they haven't filmed many episodes. Which is just great since I have been waiting for new 24 episodes!

The writers are also striking about shows broadcast through the Internet - they get NOTHING for that, even though the studios get money through web advertising. The studios are being real cheapskates, considering they make billions off of the shows and movies. John Stewart highlighted it on his show.(u can see it on youtube) Basically they are getting ripped off. Right now I think they get about 5 cents on each $20 DVD. The packaging costs more. And the studios don't want to give them more $. Guess how much the writers are asking for? 8 cents. Like that is too much for the studios to pay, 3 whole cents more.

SAG, the actors guild will be striking over the exact same thing when their contract expires. The studios are creating this whole mess by being greedy. I for one am really mad at the studios for not just paying the people who write the shows. I just want to watch my shows and they have to go and be all cheap about it.

There is a lot of info about the strike at the SAG and WGA websites.

due to the fact that most series stock episodes well in advance it's highly unlikely anyones current favorite shows will be affected.however depending on how long the strike goes the next few seasons may have slight adverse affects to them.

We will be forced to watch older movies and reruns.

The revenue will go UP...

Then the strike will get settled and we will have to watch to usual crap...

And the RIAA/MPAA will blame the pirates for the decline in revenue again...

I don't mind reruns or even older episodes of shows, it's those damn reality TV shows that I pray will not saturate the channels for however long the strike goes on.
