Dog's comments were inappropriate and I'm sure a number of his fans were offended. However, I've watched a good portion of the entire series and noticed he has a lot of support from the locals which shows even before the series he's built bridges in the community. Also, Hawaiians as a whole are very forgiving given that you are truthful in you r appology and you don't continue to make mistakes.
So overall, I don't think what has occured will impact his standing with the community. But I do think his TV series is done for.
I don't think there is anything inappropriate of what he said since it was done in a public conversation. We are all entitled to freedom of speech. If he hates blacks then that's his personal choice. He is just human. He might not be a politically correct person for saying that but then he was just being himself and he wasn't intending to discuss it publicly. What's illegal is taping that supposed to be private conversation.
I think that they'll forgive him. I don't think he's a racist at all. People say a lot of things, a lot of which are offensive, but that doesn't make you a racist. He wasn't right for using that language though.
How crappy was it that his son is the one that recorded him, then sold him out to the enquirer for 10,000 dollars. That just shows, blood related or not, that people will do anything for money. I dont think so cause they know they live in part of the united states which unless things have changed like in the last day or two still has freedom of speech .
