I can't stand Smallville, but husband is a fan. And because I love him unconditional I get to hear all about it all the time.
So, he told me that Annette O'Toole left the show, but agreed to to cameo appearances. That is why when she appears she appears as a guest not a regular. I think he mentioned that she will only be on 3-4 episodes this season.
I noticed that she was missing. I would imagine with Clark growing up more, it was important for her to be gone, not just hanging around with filler lines.
I hope to see her as a guest star on a Thanksgiving or Christmas episode. I thought she was still listed on the cast.
