Should Hollywood writers go on strike?!

Question: Word is that a strike by TV writers in Hollywood would immediately hit late night talk shows that depend on current events to seed their opening monologues. Later on after the existing stockpile of scripts is used up, soap operas, prime time dramatic shows and situation comedies would run out of material. At the same time, a writer's strike is seen as a likely boon to reality shows, which don't depend on writers of fiction and instead manage to entertain us with people and situations taken from reality.

Now that I sit back and contemplate the list of affected shows I just typed, I think TV producers should go ahead and let the writers go on strike for, oh, 5 years or so because the debauchery, filth, perversion and general mental sickness they glorify in their scripts is better of left totally unscripted. The striking writers need not starve what with all of the new positions turning up in the agricultural industry following new crackdowns on the hiring and transporting of illegals

Excellent points there. Those dramatic shows on prime time try to appeal to high school age locker room humor during the opening scene, it make you wonder some times just how bored the producers are in their own private lives.

This is what i answered when someone else asked the exact same question:

Sometimes after a long day at work, all you want to do is go home and sit in front of the TV and just let all your troubles fade away for a couple hours while you live vicariously through the characters on screen.
I hope this writers thing gets resolved soon. :)

People take things too seriously. Its just TV! If you don't like it then that's perfectly fine, you do not have to watch it. And for those who make points about what's family friendly and what's not... well be involved with what your kids watch!
But there are many adults who enjoy the programs that come on television and we hope the writers can come to agreements soon.
