Britz - your thoughts?!

Question: (SPOILERS)

Has anyone been watched this? What did you think? Was it well written? Did you think that Nasima's agreement to go through with it fitted with her character? Did you think that the portrayal of British culture and in particular the police in the second episode could essentially serve as propaganda for extremist muslim factions, or was this counterbalanced by the pro state view of the first episode?

I actually felt alot of sympathy for Nasima, which was a bit uncomfortable as she ended up blowing up the target. I really hoped she wouldn't go through with it, but maybe that wouldn't have been realistic. I would like to have seen more of what motivated her and how she spiralled into becoming a terrorist - I dont think that was made explicit enough - one minute she's got a non-Muslim boyfriend and the next she is an extremist. So no I dont really feel her actions fitted her character.

I think the bit with the police was well done - that sort of thing does go on and I think they were right to show it. I dont think it will fuel extremism. But there were other parts of it that may do - I thought it was generally very sympathetic to Muslims, particularly at the end where the statistics came up - I thought they were skewed too much towards explaining Muslim actions and almost trying to justify them, when clearly there is no real justification. There wasn't alot of pro-state stuff I didn't think - there was the young lad getting beaten up, the bit with the police, the snottiness of MI5 - i guess if it came across as too pro-UK it would just be seen to fuel racial hatred in the UK, but I do think it should have been seem to condemn terrorism a bit more, while explaining their actions a bit better

This is just some more anti-british propaganda masquerading as thought-provoking drama. Total rubbish.

I also think it is just stirring things i live in Britain and we have a friendly city where i live and we work rather closely with the police, also one of my best mates is a Muslim we get along fine my tutor is a Muslim as well and many of the people on my course are from all over the world there hasn't been any problems really this t.v.
