Why isn't the Simpsons funny anymore?!

Question: all the really great people who worked on the show have moved on to bigger and better things (e.g. conan o'brien and his show. brad bird is directing movies like the incredibles and rataouille). an exception to this being phil hartman, who y'know died.

competition from shows like south park and family guy have made them change their writing. (e.g. the simpsons have limited the use of flashbacks and flashaways, y'know those things like "remember that time when...") I've noticed they've started making use of the montage set to music. That way, i guess, you don't have to need that much writing and it kills a lot of time (let's say a montage lasts about 2 minutes. out of a 22 minute show, that's a big percentage)

i'm also pretty sure they're taking notes from the network. when was the last time there was an itchy and scratchy cartoon showing the mindless cartoon violence we all known and love? when was the last time they made fun of FOX or rupert murdoch? The guest stars nowadays show up as themselves and are frequently flavors of the week (remember the episode where the black girl from American Idol was the guest? i thought not).

but really i think the reason is that they've bought their own hype. good shows are good for a reason and require lots of hard work and great writing. like the star wars franchise, i think they've forgotten this and drank their own kool-aid.

ehh well shows change and after a while it just seems they repeat themselves and make fun of the same things anyways

Still the funniest show on TV. Unlike Family Guy and South Park, the Simpson tries to aim at something other then bathroom humor and cheap sex jokes. It takes some intellect to watch the Simpsons and so at first glance it may not seem as funny but over time it will hold up as a classic unlike the other two which will soon date themselves and cease to have any relevance

Because there on the 378th ep. and everyoine is noticeing they are running outa jokes and are doing the same stuff they have done before but in a difrent way.

um...it never was.

It sucks. Always has and always will.
