Does anyone understand the advert with a gorilla doing the drums, advertising da!

Question: Once this advert is finished, how many years on will you think about it and about Cadbury's chocolate. How many years ago did the Smash Martians appear? Have they been forgotten? Think about it, it's brilliant advertising.

"nobody knows, but its provocative"

it has no relevance to cadburys chocolate other than getting your attention and making you aware of cadbury chocolate.. its a mind over matter thing

I think he is representing the 'relish the moment', there's the build up of the music up to the fantastic end hence the similarity with chocolate - savour the moment.

its not really about anything. It's just a guy in a suit drumming to phil collins. But its a great ad :D
I guess its just to put a smile on our faces

Was gonna ask the same question have no idea!!
Clever though its very memorable.

Ive been waiting for this moment all my life,The first time eating cadburys chocolate.

Just by way of the fact that you are talking about it means it has worked. It sticks in your mind.

I like the full version. Think it's really funny.

:-)))

There's nothing to understand. It doesn't have any meaning, it's just a great idea to have a lifelike gorilla playing drums with real soul. And they chose the perfect track by Phil Collins (who is himself a drummer), where the drums crash in partway through the track.

I don't understand the link to chocolate, but I do understand a great ad when I see it.

He is a talented gorilla?!? Also has a gold tooth! This may mean eating too much choc rots your teeth so you have to have them replaced with gold ones!!!

Adverts are all about capturing the audience these days, they dont have to relate to the product at all, it gets people talking.

If it does that then its worked

THEN an only then you remember the product hours or days after you watched it. It WORKED again. Simple really but clever.

well a few months ago phil collins was making it known how bad the gorillas were in need of help as they are starting to die out. and i think cadbury's have just jumped on board the gorilla plight. so they joined together by the looks of it to make us aware. so thats what its all about. just a guess lol

It's all about making people talk about it, and mention the brand, which you have just done. And it gets questions asked here and everywhere. That's what advertising is all about.

Yes .. Chocolate was actually invented by a gorilla in 1785 in Switzerland, Obviously he couldn't play the drums that's just a bit of artistic licence..

Well guess what... the imagery is stuck in your mind otherwise you wouldn't be asking such this question. Such is the power of advertising. Advertising has evolved from the the housewife with the big smile saying 'Buy Cadbury' to something much more subliminal. Abstract imagery particularly if it is humourous will be remembered by the target audience, and hopefully if the ad agency has done their homework will increase sales. A gorilla banging drums will stick in you mind much more easily than a simple slogan.

dont really know but its done what its set out to do
get people talking about it and its memorable

I answered this exact same question earlier! Why do people keep putting the same questions on here all the time?

No idea, my little boy loves it though.

dont really know but its an amazin song!!!

I don't know but everyone knows what advert you are talking about and everyone knows it is for cadburys chocolate so therefore the advert works!!!

Come on... it's a real Gorilla....... isn't it????

why Analise it it is about the moment if you do not get that then you need help

It is subtle, initial confusion, build up, crescendo! then the cadbury's label at the end. Advertising genius! But not as effective as barry scott! or the annoying window chappie (can't remember the window company funnily enough) but very effective, got you asking the question didn't it? My daughter loves the gorilla ad.

Reading all this has made me fancy a bar of Galaxy..

silly answere maybe he couldnt unwrap it so in frustion he played the drums hope he he read this may cotain nuts
