Question: I can't believe that after yearsof having to watch John and his annoying Doc he could really be dead. I know his contract is up in December? Anyone out there know if he is really dead?

John (Drake's) contract was not renewed. HOWEVER, his contract is not up until December so there is still the possibility he could be on-air until sometime in mid-Februrary (Tapings are done about 6 weeks before they air). I did read he appears to Sami in a dream this week. (This Week's Spoilers on Dustin's Days Page). Of course no character is really dead on Days, but for now Drake is out as John and John is 'dead'.
its a soap no one is ever really dead...he is such a big character even if they find some one to fill his contract maybe 5 years down the road he'll be back just like how they brought Zach slaters' dad back early this year on amc.

i was heartbroken over John leaving too...been watching all my life!
Probably not. No one is ever dead on soaps, ESPECIALLY Days. He's too vital of a character to be dead forever. He's integral to the DiMera storyline, the Bradys, etc. They never kill off a very central character like that forever.

Yes unless at some pint down the road they decide to rehire him. They let him go from the show.
