How old are the characters on Greys Anatomy and what is their annual income?!
Question: I find it a little odd that they are surgeons and yet they act like they're poor. They all don't have their own places, they don't drive fancy expensive cars etc etc. Plus I was wondering about their ages cause they look older. When they first started interning, I don't think they were 24 years old. In a recent episode they said that Lexie was 24, so the interns are supposed to be 24. I don't get it.

If the characters all started their training to become doctors immediately after high school, this is how old I'd guess they'd be:
- the interns are about twenty-six/twenty-seven (say you start university at eighteen, you do four years undergraduate and four years postgraduate then become an intern so twenty-four is too young unless she's a gifted child who finished school early)
- the residents are about twenty-seven/twenty-eight to about thirty-three
- the attendings are about thirty upwards.
I can understand the interns and, maybe, residents being poor are they'll still be paying off their university tuition fees as well as competing for jobs across the city/country. Junior doctors are not rich, especially since they couldn't get extra jobs to subsidise them through their training. Attendings should be more well off though as their finances are starting to balance out as they will have paid off university costs.
The characters are almost all played by actors who are older than the character they play so this is why they don't look their age.
