I know what it is! It is the embodied spirit of dozens of episodes of bad writing and the flushing of all their careers rolled into a huge ball and set loose upon the Earth.
i dont think that there is a 'monster', but maybe some spirit that curse the island and its resident!!

Its not a "monster" its the security system for the Island. I think it has to do with the magnetic field within the island...so much has happened on the show it's hard to remember everything. The more you watch (sounds like you just started) the more they will explain it but its not a straight answer you kind of have to figure it out yourself as you watch.
