Dr Who fans. I have just watched the 2 part episode where the Dr Was John Smith?!

Question: Did anyone else notice how it appeared so much more big budget even down to the lighting and music? A truly brilliant atmospheric and an emotional story with a lot of depth. The scarecrows were simplistically brilliant!!

Best thing i've seen in a while...

Yes. Brilliant story by Paul Cornell, great performances by all the actors, excellent direction and production values. Just great TV all round. I loved the twist where it turned out that the Doctor wasn't hiding from the Family of Blood because he was afraid of them, but because he was afraid of what he would have to do to them. A hint of the Doctor's true power.

Definitely one of the better stories in series three, which was a very high standard overall in my opinion.

If you haven't seen the episodes that come after "The Family of Blood" yet, keep watching. "Blink" is conceptually brilliant and very scary with it and the three part series finale is just awesome (with a strong link to the"Human Nature / Family of Blood" story as well).

Yes and its deliberate. They would like to put more £ and time into more episodes. One or 2 are very low budget.

Fantastic wasn't it?
I did love that storyline. I also like the one where the nanobots were making everyone "well" - based on a very small boy wearing a gas mask.
Scared the whatsits out of me!

Well have u seen the episode Blink, truly classic Dr Who.

The story was based on a Dr. Who book which was published during it's time off-air. A wonderful story with superb performances from everyone involved. It Wasn't "The Empty Child" from the Chris Eccleston season though.

i thought this was one of the best episodes of the series and even though the villians took on human form they were still very scary. did you know that the actor who played baines also plays will in the current robin hood series. you would never know it as they are total opposite characters, i think this actor is one to watch for the future.

it shows how good the books are that the episode turned out well. And of course they had some great actors to bring it to life.

i enjoyed it also, sad when he got his old self back though.

Yes it was a fantastic episode. I just love when they have scary looking characters. Wait till you see "Blink"!!
It's a shame that the BBC are making budget cuts, so we'll have to see if they keep up the production values.
