Always remember - it's not a talent contest, it's entertainment. It's not about celebrating what people can do, it's about using them for cheap telly. You may think (correctly) that there is an appalling lack of talent on the show but that doesn't matter. As long as they can build up stories about the contestants and pull in the phone votes, they don't care.
I think that all shows that use phone votes should be forced to reveal exactly how many votes were cast for each person - it would make it much harder for the producers to manipulate them.
If it works in WWE, why not on this tacky piece of trash?

I used to work in TV and I can tell you that NO TV programme is broadcast, live or otherwise, without a script. Sharon Osbournes split with the X- Factor Judges will have been scripted and rehearsed, before going live on air.
She looked high on drink or drugs during the show, so am not suprised she later lost it. I think it was just an old diva who had overdone it.
