Question: The contestants who are picked in the studio audience to "Come On Down" - do they know beforehand that they are gonna get picked to play the game? Or is it totally random with them picking names from everyone in the audience?

It is random. I actually had a friend in college get picked and he was a contestant!! I guess they interview people that are interested and they said something like, just say the first thing that comes to your mind. I have no idea what he said but obviously it was good enough because we all watched him on TV! It was great! But he said he had no idea, just that he had told them he was interested.

It is random. The producers decide who will be on before the show starts. The contestants have no idea.

before the audience gets seated, staff go through the crowd, interview people and see if they would be good for the show. The possibles get put on a list beforehand but I think that's all.

I went to a taping of The Price is Right about a year ago or so & they are very picky about what you are wearing & it's a long & almost all day process. But to what I saw it was totally random, of couse I'm sure the people are all about checking out the people & I was convinced that they had already picked out who was gonna be called without the knowledge of the people! And FYI the stage which looks huge & the audience that looks like they are a lot, its all camera!! the stage was soo tiny & they audience was less then half of what the TV makes it look! O=)
