Why do contestants always say "What is.." before answering a question !
Question: I've looked it up everywhere, and it technically says it isn't a rule, but you always have to answer with a question.
It annoys me SO much, it makes no sense!!

Because what the contests see on the screen is the answer and they have to reply with the question for example if you pick the category Disney Movies and you see "The movie with seven little men" that's the answer so the contest would reply "What is Snow White?"

The answer is what appears and you are to phrase your response in form of a question.
that is the way the play that game I watch it one time and someone just said the answer and not put it in a question and they didn't get the points they lost the points I agree it Is stupid and Dumb but that is how it is played
these shows always seem to fall into a kind of formulaic pattern so if one person says somethign everyone follows and eventually it becomes the unwritten rule of how to play the game.
I think it is a way on letting the host know they are prepared to give a finally answer.
Because the contestants must answer in the form of a question
