Did you lose respect for Ellen over "The Iggy Affair," or you you love!

Question: She seemed to garner a lot of sympathy because of her public breakdown, but somehow I feel a bit disappointed over the whole issue.

Will you continue to watch her show?

You can't lose something you never had. I didn't watch her show before, I probably won't now. She is a professional and as such is familiar with contracts. She knowingly violated the one she had with the dog facility and now because of her public display, the dog facility is getting damaged further.

Never had it for her...but it only proved that she doesn't have to live by the rules like the rest of us...*****

Love her even more.

i've never heard of this

She loves dogs , what's your problem !!!!

Everyone who likes her will still like her show. Unfortunately, the "breakdown" was a tad unprofessional, I think she really felt bad because the little girl lost her puppy and she has a big heart.

Never had any respect for her, so doesn't really change much.

With everything going on in the world, she cries in public because she didn't read the agreement she signed - over a dog?

I don't see her crying about the children who die in the US from hunger. For the thousands who sleep each night in the streets. For the starvation and misery around the world.

She's crying because of a dog? Nope, respect is not a word that springs to mind.

HELL NO IT IS THE OTHER ROUND HOW DARE THAT WHO SAY SHE LOVE PETS AND WANT RESCUE THEM TAKE HER AWAWY FOR A LOVING HOME

hell yeah shes amazing!! shes just a person the fact that she did that makes me love her even more.

I thought that her break down was a little too over the top...I actually laughed at the tape...I will be ambushed for this but people it is just a dog!!!

i think she was devastated

I will keep watching Ellen. She's a great entertainer. Everyone has personal problems of some sort. She truly thought she was doing the right thing.

hard to decide because i lost respect for her but i also gainded alot because she loves that dog and that family so much to try her hardest to get it back to them

I'm neutral. I think what happened just showed that she's a human being. Big deal. I'll still watch her show. Now if you talk about Rosie O and her big 360 turnaround I have lost total respect for Rosie and her big mouth. When she had her talk show she was great and then she started getting too opinionated and high on her horse and she made me lose total respect. But anything about animals and stuff like that is no big deal to me.

Sort of disappointed because now she is just another celebrity that thinks she can champion her own self serving causes on television, face it when they got the dog from the hairdressers; there "just happened" to be a film crew there! Oh well.........................

From what I heard on the story, the shelter should've just let the other family keep the dog since it was well cared for, and had a loving home. There was no point to taking it back since Ellen had paid for it.
I'm really kind of stunned all this drama is getting raised on national television over a dog in the first place.

Another Ellen/Iggy question? Man these have really been popping up a lot the past few days.

I never really liked or disliked Ellen. As I once said before, she broke a contract, she had no right to give the dog away to someone else, she should have read all the documentation that came with the little guy. And her 'public breakdown' has caused threats towards the owners of Mutts and Moms. So I'd wager to say she's garnered quite a bit of support, albeit not in a good way.

i love her even more

I don't normally watch her show, but from what I saw on "The Insider", it seems as if she was faking it. I guess because of all the pressure from the public and the media, she had to somehow loosen the weight of this issue on her shoulders by acting as if she was really sorry and wanted the little girl to get her dog back!

I wish Ellen well, but I never watch her show. I did see her break down on the news. Apparently it was over someone who lost
their dog. I respect anyone who cares about animals, I have four dogs and if one of them was missing I would be very upset too.

I can understand her being upset over the situation in general. But also she did break the rules. If you adopt a pet from a shelter they make it very clear that if you are unable to care for a pet, you must bring the pet back to the shelter. You can not take it upon yourself to sell or give the pet away, if you do then don't make a public statement about it. Your only going to hurt yourself and the family you "gave" the pet to. I feel bad for the little girl that got attached to Iggy, she should have never been put in this situation.
I don't feel any different about Ellen. She is still a good person, she realized that what she did was wrong. I think the emabarrasment and humility of the situation really bothered her more than the pet being taken away.

What I want to know is, why Brit's kids were taken away and the dogs got to stay? Things that make you go hmmmm?

I'm at work when her show is on, but I've read about it. I felt badly for the kids that had the dog taken. then I heard that Ellen has done this before. she regularly adopts dogs and gives them away. she kinda lost credibility with me.

I think it may have been a mistake for her to make the statement on her show. A news conference would have been a better venue- or an interview. But, what's done is done. There was some backlash because of the threats made against the shelter she got the dog from. She could not have known that was going to happen, and she made a statement asking her fans to please not contact the shelter or make any threats. I still like her just as much, and yes, I would continue watching her show if it came on when I was not at work.

I don't usually watch Ellen. But as for what happened, the only thing she did wrong, was not read her contract. Some organizations want us to think they're doing something good, but they're simply there to pass judgement on us.

Most people that adopt dogs from shelters don't read the fine print because they just figure that they will go home, love the dog and all will be well. It is not her fault that it didn't work out with the dog and she found it a good loving home. Anyone who says they lost respect for her over the ordeal is just plain evil and heartless. She apologized for the whole ordeal and does not think that she is better than anyone.

her mistake was she didn't read the fine print, if you tell me you always have on everything then criticize otherwise give her a break.

This is a dumb question. However, I think Ellen was being a bit dramatic but the ppl who took the dog from a safe and happy home sound like disgusting and heartless ppl. Kids and dogs are meant to be together so I feel the dog was done a great disservice and will not be as happy as it could have been in the house Ellen found for it. I don't think this will affect her ratings either way a month from now when everyone forgets anything ever happened..

I'm not a lesbian, and never really cared for Ellen's style of comedy- although I do occasionally catch her show, for her interview style is warm and personal.

I hated, and still do, Anne Heche for dragging Ellen thru a public breakup. I'm glad she has found happiness with Portia De Rossi.

As for the dog thing, I think the shelter was in the wrong. They should have told Ellen that she needed to bring the dog and the girl down to them so they could correct their paperwork and charge whatever fees they needed to for the paperwork.

They had NO RIGHT to go over to that little girl's house and steal her dog!!!! That made me very mad! Everyone I know is incensed at their actions.

I stand by Ellen on this issue.

Ellen is a total wacko. she put this lady who ran a non profit pet shelter out of business, bottom line Ellen didn't take the time with this dog and had problems so she gave it away knowing she was not supposed to, The shelter took the dog back as this dog was not good with kids . Ellen should have never used her show to RUIN this dog shelter. I have no respect for her anymore and will never watch her show again

Sure, I'll still watch. I fail to see what the fuss is all about. If I went down to the humane society or ASPCA and rescued a dog, and then gifted it to a friend, the humane society or ASPCA could care less. What makes this "dog adoption" place so special that they even have ANY say in what Ellen does with the dog once Ellen has possession? Gimme a break! Dogs are property. Once the dog becomes my property, what I do with it, keep it myself or give it away, is no one else's business. Their only concern should be that the dog isn't mistreated, by whoever it finally ends up with.

Ellen Degeneres is just a totally mixed up person who needs a PR specialist to handle her interpersonal encounters with the media, and a lawer to explain the contents of a contract and what entering into one means.

I still remember the Anne Heche love affair scandal and how that was handled, so all this brouhaha over a dog is pointless and pathetic. She's got intestinal fortitude to parade her sexual orientation before the rest of the world, but cries over a contract violation involving a dog adoption?

I don't watch her show, by the way. Her last name reminds me too much of the word degenerate.
