American versions of British Shows?!

Question: Do you think they r better or worse.

Answers: Do you think they r better or worse.

You're right about x-factor.... although the talent in america seem so much better... they do love a fairytale

dR bad

American versions of British TV concepts are altered for a different audience. American audiences are generally used to higher production values, scripting and more sensationalism, though you're right: British TV shows are adopting similar styles now.

In my opinion they're worse, but that's because they're not aimed at me.

Worst every time.

I must admit I do like American Idol despite the fact they booted off Chris Daughtry far to early what were they thinking?
They have a lot more raz to their shows and to be honest we just get the watered down version it would drive me crazy the amount of adverts they plug during a major show.
I agree they are trying to get X-Factor run like Idol but it will not work over here as we just are not ready for it.
I do not like the shows like the Office that they try and make "American" but that is because I am used to ours.
I do love their shows like CSI, House and Law and Order that is America at it's best in drama.

I like American Idol
but thats as far as it goes

Whe it comes to reality shows American ones tend to have better locations, better prizes and more dramatisation, but for this genre it works. Anything else though and the British versions are better !!

Hi Sweetie,
If you're talking Reality TV, then I find them worse - so false, too much talk, and contrived "banter" from the judges and host.
Comedy - much worse (The Office)
Drama - on the whole, so much better than our police, forensics and medical shows (except Casualty)

Not seen too many but I offer you Red Dwarf and Men Behaving Badly as two good reasons why Britain ROCKS. Look at the US versions... awful.

I see no reason why they can't just show our versions anyway.. okay so the Americans "don't understand our humour" but then we're expected to understand theirs?! We make the effort and to be fair shows like Frasier, Friends, Becker et al are hilariously funny. I'm sure they would understand our humour if they made the effort to like we do of theirs.

No wonder Americans are generalised as arrogant and ignorant of other cultures. I say generalised but maybe I meant stereotyped? I do know of a few Americans who DO make the effort to be fair.
