Now the rescue agency is receiving death threats because of Ellen and her careless actions on live tv. All her friend had to do was approach the rescue agency and request to adopt the same dog - going through the proper adoption screening process like everybody else. No need to publicly discredit a volunteer organization on live tv because Ellen failed to read and understand the contract she signed. Rescue agencies have an OBLIGATION to protect the animal, and need to know that the animal stays in the care of the person they interviewed and screened as an appropriate caregiver. That's for the protection of the animal! Ellen gets absolutely no symapathy from me.

She gave a dog she could not keep to a little girl but she should have returned the dog to the place where she had gotten it, some kind of animal protection or shelter
I think the animal protection society took it back from the little girl.

She adopted a dog and had to give it up. The contract she signed with the adoption place stated that she could not give the dog away. They came and took the dog away from the familly she had given it to. That upset ellen and the familly.

Ellen DeGeneres is in the doghouse with a pet rescue agency after giving a pooch away to her hairdresser because it didn't get along with her cats.

The talk show hostess and her partner Portia de Rossi adopted Iggy, a Brussels Griffon mix, on Sept. 20. But when things didn't work out, DeGeneres gave the dog to her hairdresser.

In doing so, DeGeneres violated an agreement with the Mutts and Moms dog rescue agency by not informing them of the handoff.

When the agency called DeGeneres to ask about Iggy, she said she found another home for the dog. The agency sent a representative to the hairdresser's home Sunday and took the dog away.

DeGeneres went public about the situation Monday while taping an episode of her show to air Tuesday. She admitted she didn't read all the paperwork involving the adoption.

DeGeneres said she spent $3,000 having the dog neutered and trained to be with her cats. But the dog had too much energy and was too rambunctious, she told her television audience.

"I guess I signed a piece of paper that says if I can't keep Iggy, it goes back to the rescue organization, which is not someone's home, which is not a family," she said in a show transcript provided to The Associated Press.

"I thought I did a good thing. I tried to find a loving home for the dog because I couldn't keep it."

DeGeneres said her hairdresser's daughters, ages 11 and 12, had bonded with Iggy and were heartbroken when the dog was taken away.

"Because I did it wrong, those people went and took that dog out of their home, and took it away from those kids," a sobbing DeGeneres said on her show.

"I feel totally responsible for it and I'm so sorry. I'm begging them to give that dog back to that family," she said. "It's not their fault. It's my fault. I shouldn't have given the dog away. Just please give the dog back to those little girls."

Mutts and Moms, a volunteer nonprofit organization in Pasadena, does not have a listed phone number and didn't immediately respond to an e-mail request for comment.

Ellen had adopted a dog and it ended up not getting along with her cats so she gave it to her hair dresser who had children to take care of. When the adoption place called her to check on the dog she told them that she didnt have it anymore and they went to her hair dressers house and took the dog away from the family.

Apparently something in Ellen's contract states that if you are unable to keep the dog then you need to give it back to them and not to anther owner. She had overlooked this on the contract.

So yesterday on her show she was pleading with the adoption agency to just give the dog back to the family because her children had really bonded with the dog and it wasnt their fault it was hers.

someone made Ellen cry who?

She broke a contract with a pet placement agency by giving away the dog she had adopted. Doesn't she read what she signs? Or, does she think she's exempt from rules because she's a celebrity?

Why can't the hairdresser just go to the agency and sign papers for the dog? Why didn't they suggest this in the first place instead of DeGeneres carrying on during her show?

ellen got a dog from a shelter. she gave it to her hairdresser and then the shelter ended up taking it away because the adoption contract said she had to keep the dog since she adopted it. She felt really bad and really wanted to get the dog back to the lady.

This proves even Celebs must abide to the small print of contracts. Ellen should have done her homework, then she would have known cats and dogs rarely get along.

When I was a cub, we had one cat who was afraid of our dog. We aquried a small white kitten. Our dog saw her curled up on the chair. He wanted to sniff the white ball of fluff to see what it was. He breatehd on her, she uncurled herslf and scratched his nose causing him to rub his nose with his paw and cried.

A dear friend of the family lived in Rural area of the county. She had cattle. She had an eletric fence to keep the cattle out of her yard. She had a cat and a small dog. Her cat would tourment the dog every nice day during the Spring, Summer and Fall.

The cat would pester the dog until the dog chased the cat. the cat would entice the dog to chase him all over the yard. The cat would then scoot under the eletric fence, the dog ran into the fence the first time and yelped when she was shocked.

The cat watched the dog walk back and lay down in front of the steps to the front of the house.the cat would let the dog almost get settled, then the cat would start in on the dog again enticing the dog to chase the cat, once again the cat would lead dog all over the yard, then the cat would scoot under the fence, and the dog would run into the fence getting a small shock. This went on all day everyday. The dog never did learn if she ran into the fence she would be shocked.

she got a dog from an animal shelter but she realized that she couldnt keep it so she gave it away but she wasnt allowed to so the animal shelter took the puppy away from the little girl that ellen had given it to.so now she feels guilty about what happened

She had to give away a dog, that did not get along with her cats.
