I used to love "Burnside" It was really good but it wasn't on long. It starred Chris Ellison as "Burnside" (from the Bill) who done his own series. It had a bit of swearing in it but I thought the show was great!"!
And of course you cant leave out "The Detectives" with Jasper Carrott !!

Midsommer Murders without a doubt - absolutely the best detective series ever, of all time etc. etc.

I think it depends where you are from, I am sure Scots will say Taggart and English say Midsomer Murders!! Just a guess.

midsomer murders definitely, i love it, barnaby is the best detective, then again just like jessica fletcher murder goes everywhere they do. Taggart lost its appeal when that guy died all those years ago.
I've been watching Taggart for years, I like Mark McManus' attitude. He's the sort of policeman you wouldn't like to cross. I watched Midsomer Murders for the first time a few weeks ago, and was surprised that I like it also. However, I find that the storylines in Taggart are perhaps better and more believable, so that gets my vote.
Of the 2 suggested, Midsomer Murders.
I dont know those, my fave is Moonlight.
