Because David Caruso has four types of expressing his feelings: with sunglasses; without sunglasses; knelt by the side of a victim; and, like you said, with his head cocked to the side. But his face never changes.

ha ha...i don't have an answer really...but my family and i have noticed the same thing...i think its quite humorous! you will also notice that when he is about to make a cheesy comment about a dead person at the scene he turns to the side puts his shades on...I am glad my family and i are not the only ones that have noticed this Little quirk!!

They actually did an article on CSI either in TV Guide or the news about this very question.

Something to the effect that David thinks the side-view is his best shot and also that they do it to "intimidate" the criminals and to put others on notice that he is not intimidated.

Is isn't the way it is shot, tis is how they want Horatio Caine to stand just as they want him to stand with his hands on his hips or when he puts his sunglasses. I think this makes Horato look powerful but yet has a softer side.Oh by the way, CSI Miami is the best

Because David... is a diva... you can not convince me he has stopped his diva ways. I watched CSI Miami for the first 3 seasons. I wanted to give it as much of a chance as possible. I'm always hooked... but when they have David shooting at a semi and it stops just feets in front of him and the efforts done to make him look cool and tough with the head **** gets pushed... I left the show.

CSI New York's Gary Sinese is a more believable tough guy who isn't intimidated and he doesn't have to **** his head.
