Jolene was a character on the GH Night Shift series that was on for the past 13 weeks. In the beginning, she appeared to be just one of the nurse interns. However, it turned out that she was paid by MedCam Corporation to cause many accidents and deaths to occur at GH so that the hospital could seem incompetent, and so that MedCam could take over. In the last episode, Jolene was shot saving Spinelli's life during a shootout, and she was in critical condition in a coma, not likely to wake up. They are using this storyline from Night Shift to introduce her sister, Nadine on the regular GH series.

That whole thing was played out on GH: Night Shift. She was "allegedly" paid to sabotage the hospital (killing patients) to make it look like the staff wasn't doing their job and apparently they are bringing the story over to GH.
