Prison Break... aahhhh!!! (Spoilers)?!

Question: Are you upset they killed off Sarah? I knew eventually they would, because in an interview, the actress who plays Sarah said that she's pregnant and she would never want to raise her children in the hollywood spotlight. But, the way they killed her was SO gruesome!!!

An hour ago i was annoyed, but acceptance is setting in! fairly fast grief process. I know there are a lot of very upset people out there, but from all i have read I can understand how they didn't have a lot of choice but to kill her & it's hard to do a death scene without the person, limits the options a bit. but still, i think a lot of the anger/sadness is because we got so little of the sara/michaelness, we are talking under 5 kisses a few hand squeezes and probably the best moment had her in hysterical tears and him with the 'oh dear, i have to be all noble and take this one for her, so its back to prison for me then' expression on his face. Not a particulary satisfying or uplifting romantic moment. Right now I am going for a little less heads in box's and more light hearted skippping and hair flipping, bring on gossip gir!!
yeah its unfair
this is gonna sound nuts - but the show makes it like the company can do ANYTHING. sometimes I wonder if the head in the box was a replica or something, lol. her plotline w/ michael seems pointless b/c I thought they were going to fall in love, etc maybe sarah is still alive? if not - I have gotten more attached to that character than I realized, lol.
Hey, the actress wanted to come back but the show planned to kill her off, because a happy ending didn't make for good tv. She said she felt a bit betrayed by the choice. Although the show did try by offering her a few episodes but it was a bit of an all or none thing for her......
oh do tell. i missed it on monday. i thought it would be an ear / finger in the box....
I don't know if you've read the TV Guide exclusive interview with TPTB (the powers that be) of Prison Break (http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/... ), but that interview seems to suggest that Sarah Wayne Callies was willing to come back to the show until TPTB decided that they were going to kill off her character, and she refused to come back for just a couple of episodes before her character died. It irks me that this whole thing was created by TPTB and didn't need to happen.

I am no longer watching Prison Break because of the lousy way they treat female characters. TPTB are coming off as horribly misogynistic. It is one thing to watch a show like OZ or Supernatural in which there are limited numbers of female characters. I can accept that. It is another thing to watch a show with a fairly substantial number of female characters and have them all be treated horribly. The women are either victims (like the two who were tied up when they were getting the treasure or the women that T-Bag brutalized), pathetic (like Maricruz, who never had a backbone, and whose story pretty much was about how she wasn't strong enough to make up her mind about which guy she wanted to be with), corrupt and/or irredeemably evil (like the VP (really, couldn't it have been enough that she was putting her family above all other people? Did she really have to be sleeping with her brother?) and this season's Susan), or are killed off (like LJ's mom, Veronica and now Sara).

The writers have shown that they can create and sustain complex male characters, so why couldn't they do that for the female characters? Why did the one last remaining hope of a fairly complex and strong and equal-to-the-guys female have to die? Why did it have to be Sara's death that drove Michael to vengeance, rather than LJ's death? It seems that TPTB were convinced that the death was necessary regardless of Sarah Wayne Callies' availability, and I just don't understand the reasoning there.

And even if you accept the premise that Sara had to die (which I vehemently do not), why did she have to die in such a fashion? I agree with you that they way they killed her was particularly gruesome. I would have infinitely preferred that she had died of the drug overdose at the end of the first season to dying in the manner that she did. It seems so demeaning and (not to overuse the word) misogynistic. I mean, Abruzzi was shot when he wouldn't give himself up, Tweener was shot after he did the "noble" thing of not giving up his teammates and reconnecting with the girl, C-Note almost committed suicide as a sacrifice for his family, the crazy dude committed suicide as a way to escape, and the main girl/love interest is the one who is kidnapped and has her head cut off to shock the heroes into action? I mean, she has to be weak, used as a pawn, and brutalized? Too bad the heroic men couldn't be around to save her. *sigh* That just seems so wrong to me.
