How can people lose over 20 lbs in a week on "The Biggest Loser"?!

Question: Don't you think that is an unhealthy amount of weight to lose in a week or two or whatever? How do they do that? I'd be afraid to go on that show and then lose too much weight too quickly and then have sagging skin all over...

Point Blank you CAN'T!! It is physically impossible to lose or gain for that matter more than 2 lbs in one week. If you lose more than 2 lbs in a week it is usually water weight. There is no way in hell those people can lose 20 lbs in one week. It is a television show and just like all television shows there is editing and I am pretty sure their weigh-ins are NOT on a weekly basis. They just do it for the show. Ask any one, you cannot lose that much weight in that short amount of time!

To lose one pound, you need to burn 3,500 calories more than you take in. In other words, you need to run a calorie deficit. To do this, reduce your caloric intake by 500 calories per day. (Seven days times 500 calories equals 3,500 calories – one pound.)
I have been trying to loose 20 pounds liek my whole life.. i wish it only took me a week.. I just think they have such a large amount to loose that a 2 pound a week to an average person is like 20 to them.. Though i do find it remarkably Wierd.. but maybe i'm just jealous!
Number one factor is determination. Excercise is followed closely by diet. If you cut your intake of fats, sugars and sodium, you can lose a lot in a short time. It has to be done with medical supervision, to make sure you are still getting vital nutrients. Cutting sodium intake alone can shed 5-10 pounds in a week or so. (Caution, if you choose a low sodium diet, you must allow foods that are high in iodine in your diet, such as seafood and asparagus) and you have to drink a lot of water to keep hydrated.
I will repeat...you have to have medical supervision...Don't do anything stupid that could harm you in the end....
You have to keep in mind that the people on The Biggest Loser are monitored by health care professionals and trainers....
i'm not a fitness or nutrition expert, but my common sense tells me if you lose 20 pounds in one week would be okay....if you look like anyone of the biggest loser!!!
the bigger you are(or the more fat you need to lose), once you you start working out, the fat burns faster--just because you have more to lose than an average person.
if you are JUST 20 pounds overweight, than you will only lose a pound or two a week. if you do it healthy
