I would have to say Sydney Bristow from Alias. Not only could she kick butt but you never forgot that she was a woman. I think many female action hero's just try to copy their male counterparts. But keeping the feminine touch to a woman that could put anyone in the hospital always hits a home run. However I am also a long time fan of Ripley from Aliens. I think if the two of them were to throw down, Ripley would win.

definitely max guevarra from dark angel! let's see, she genetically enhanced engineered to raise hell (the ads says so). according to her, she's a genetically engineered pick pocket. she can run as fast as superman (probably anyway), can see in the dark, and has the strength and ability equal to 10 soldiers (why have ten when you can make a perfect soldier was manticore's logic)... she can also read barcodes, really good at gambling and can eve memorze the tones from a phone keypad! who else can do that!
