I think (and it is only my opinion) that the connection is simply a 'gimmick' of sorts. Bringing those faces and making those connections is a way of generating interest. Why not tie a new show to an old one, especially one which has created/kept such strong interest since the late 60's? Personally, I think it's a great marketing tool..and at this point, we never know where the writer's will take such a thing. Makes you go.."I wonder if..." doesn't it?
