X factor fans?!
Question: plz x factor fans can u help me, me and my mate are gonna audition for the x factor 2008. but there is just one problem, she has a criminal record, or s o i think. you see she was caught shoplifting when she was 15,and had her fingerprints and picture taken.she got off with a caution and was never taken to court. she is now 18 and has never commited another crime ever since. you see what go her panacking was that girl from that group who got chucked out because they said she had a criminal record.
can my mate still audition with me to the x factor or not?

Hmm a tricky one. If she was never taken to court, then she was never convicted.
In LAW, a CONVICTION is the verdict that results when a court of law finds a defendant guilty of a CRIME. Your mate's fingerprints will be on record, though.
I think it was a damned shame that the girl was disqualified because she had a criminal conviction. The past is in the past, don't you think?
