Are there way too many "poor me" sob stories on X-Factor this year?!

Question:

Are there way too many "poor me" sob stories on X-Factor this year?

it sems every second person has the "lost parent" "single struggling parent" "doing it for every dead member of family" and "poor me in crap job", do people really have to spout this all out can't they just concentrate on the singing and leave all the rest for the Jeremy Kyle or Trisha show, agree or disagree and why?

i might audition next year, i cant sing very well "but ill be doing it for my dad who died" think... i may even win I have lost my dad, all my grandparents, a dog and several cats, and have a son with learning difficulties, do you think that is enough for me to win?

I can sing (had lessons and all that) however I am fat so would probably end up being the comedy element, like that poor lass Emma. Perhaps I will stick to karaoke lol (talent scouts, I live on the Isle of Wight *wink wink*)

To answer the Q, X Factor should be about talent, not about sob stories. agree, y would you want to say I got onto the x factor because my dads dead and I made everyone feel sorry for me. I also hate it when people start crying and begging, please Sharon its my dream etc!!! Aargh Absolutle agree with you.

Have a star.
I`m fed up of hearing sob stories. How does personal loss affect your ability to sing or not.

It was doing my head in last night.
Very sorry for anyones bereavement , but it`s SINGING competition.

I also don`t want to hear them all crying about"how much it means to me ..it`s everything"

I wanna see you sing and I`LL JUDGE YOU ON THAT!! we all know someone that has died but that doesn't make us singers or think we can sing. Cannot really watch it as it is so annoying this year with all the sob stories ? Sorry, :-D, think there are way too many
"do you think are too many sob story" questions!

It's RT that's why there's sob stories, wouldn't be real life without it! yep yawn yawn yawn.............. I was thinking that.

The trouble is, they do get votes. How many of them are really struggling with their emotions in the way it seems on the TV; and how many of them don't really give a crepe about their dead relatives or dead end job, but know how to turn on the waterworks? Only the tabloids can tell us. Wait for their former friends to cash in by dishing the dirt on the ones that make it through.

Wouldn't it be nice if it all went on talent alone, and they kept their private lives to themselves? Sympathy vote is a little sad when everyone does it

Blame gar, ger, ger, ger muh, muh, Gareth Gates I fully agree with you. I didn't watch the X Factor Last night, coz I was out, but I will be watching it tonight. But It sounds like there was more crying than singing. But if Dermot or whoever he is interviews the contestant before they go into the audition room, then you know the judges are going to put them through. And when the cameras are at the work place, or at the contestants school or something, how bad is it going to look on the show if the contestant didn't get through!! They would have travelled miles, just to record people crying, again!! Awful!! And all of the girls seem sooooooooo desperate "Oh I wan' i' so bad!!!" Cry Cry Cry!!
Sorry If I sound a bit miserable, but I loved it last year, with Ben, and Leona, and ray, thought they were good, oh and Sean, the shy one!!
Good question!! Agree! In the auditions I'll put my hand up and say one or two made me cry esp with the music etc etc, but now I couldn't care. Sounds harsh but it makes me think they can't have much talent if they need to try and get through on this I completely agree, i hate it when they use them to win the judges over and get through because of there sob story. I also hate the voice the presenter puts on when telling the story and the sad music they play everytime it is mentioned. It is awful what some of them have been through but the x factor is a show based on singing ability and the sob story should have nothing to do with whether they get to the final or not, unfortunately though the sob stories are used to get votes. I have to agree :-)
This programme is edited so Simon Cowell and his ar$esuckers are made to look good.
And all that drivel about _ this song is for my dead father/sister/brother/mother/a... or fecking brain dead parrot is just b0ll0cks. It does get on my wick a bit. yep! my husband was saying that during x factor last night! Yeah .. and if you turn up in your working uniform... even better ... lol

dR bad
I agree with you there are waaaaay too many i think we all have a sad tale to tell in our lives so these people are no different than us really.... Agree, there seem to be more this year than ever! On Saturdays episode, before the contestants sang, each and every one had a chance to recite their sob story one last time while the sad music played in the background. If their mum didn't die last year, they'll get them to talk about anything they think they can pass off; their tragic life as a supermarket shelf stacker or how their hamster died last May. Some of the things they say wouldn't be particularly sad if they weren't playing the sad music.
If I was told to talk to the camera about my tragic experience I wouldn't know what to say, so they'd probably tell me to cry about how I'm doing it for my Mum etc. Basically it all seems a bit fake and I've got wise to it, so rather than feeling sorry for them I just think "here we go again..." Far too many - I think it's becoming compulsory. They just hit hard on the sympathy factor and get through.
There are so many talented people that got turned away this year, and they let that wedding singer from Manchester go, but kept in the lady that sang "CONDLE in the wind" and that idiot that runs everywhere and pisses people off.
If you go on for your dad i think i will go on for the dinner lady that fed me extras because my mum was too poor to buy food :-) Ha ha ha sooooo true omg i totally agree with u hear im thinking off going on there next yr give them a gd sob story and your sure 2 get through lmao i have noticed that to practically all of em have a "sob story"
and the ones who dont only want it because they want to be "rich and famous" Yeah there are a few more than usual - it's all getting a bit boring now I'm sorry to say....

Cadenza - i think you qualify lol - although I'm sorry if this is the wrong thing to say b/c of your circumstances.....
