Is the TV show Heros going down hill?!

Question:

Is the TV show Heros going down hill?

The show is too fragmented now, too many characters. What happened to save the cheerleader. And what's up with the illegal alien story?

Answers: The season premiere of a show is just setting up what the next season is going to have. 'Save the Cheerleader, Save the World' is a reference to "Five Years Later," in which they thought Sylar had died when he blew up because he hadn't taken Claire's powers. This turned out to be wrong, so it's possible that it may be another incident which is the reason Claire had to be saved from Sylar at Homecoming.
Personally, I think Hiro is going to turn out to be his hero (or at least in part), Kensei. That would make sense, as the sword is supposed to be so important for him. Also, there have been rumors he'd have a romantic interest in that period, which would also make sense that he would be Kensei.
There's going to be something big with Peter..he's absorbed more powers, and he's demonstrating more control over him. I think the past months were interesting for him...
Claire will probably not last in small town, USA too long. Her inability to get hurt has left her without the restraint that most people have, and she's going to screw up and get found out (she already has, but by another mutant, so that's not who I'm speaking of). She sticks her hand in a Bunsen burner in class, breaks her leg in gym...and that's just the first few days. It's foreshadowing something bigger. She's also too used to being a big fish in a small pond, and she's not going to adjust well to be inconspicious.
I expect a twist in Sylar's story this season, but I don't think it will be as prominant. I think there's going to be more focus on Mrs. Petrelli and Mr. Yakamura's involvement in whatever they're in, and I think Hiro's presence in the 1600s will expose some of this. I wouldn't be surprised if they're involved in the Company or a similar organization, and I don't doubt they have ties to Kensei. Kensei just demonstrated Claire's powers, so I'm suspecting neither he nor she can die and therefore that he may be the 'late' Mr. Petrelli. He may be also the man Molly is scared of (because he can see her when she looks for him), but I suspect the man she's scared of is the one after the parents. I don't think that Kensei/Mr. Petrelli and the scary man are the same. Think, the symbol for Petrelli's company is Kensei's symbol. I wouldn't even be surprised if Hiro and the Petrellis are distantly related from Kensei.
I haven't seen enough of the Latin Americans to really speculate. HRG is probably going to get found out with his snooping. Suresh may get found out, but I think he'll keep wiggling his way out of things. I think he had the Haitian wipe his memory on purpose, and before he did, he told him everything that was going on, which would explain the Haitian meeting up with HRG.
I have a sneaky suspicion that the Company and the organization Mrs. Petrelli is involved in are different. I think one or the other will be brought down by the end of the season, or they'll unite into one company.
Nikki and her family are hard to place. All of them had their stories neatly wrapped up at the end of last season. Linderman is dead, Jessica is gone, etc. I think they'll probably mostly figure into other characters' storylines.
This is all just speculation, but it's based on what spoilers I've heard as well as just adding things up myself. Either way, I see the season starting out slow, then around midseason to the end things will start getting interesting. I love this season... i think it's better then the first... the only part i don't like is Hiro's part when he's in the 1600's .... "Save the Cheerleader" is over and has been for awhile. The next catchphrase was something like "Are you on the list?" This season TPTB said they are going to do a few smaller arcs of storyline throughout the year, but I haven't truly figured out what the first is yet, as the show hasn't gotten past introductions yet.

I don't think there are too many characters. They haven't added that many this season and some from last season were killed, so I think it is about equal. (They have just always had a lot of characters.) I'm not a big fan of the twins' story so far, but I'm hoping it will improve. I remember that last year some of the stories took set-up before they became interesting as well.

Actually, I think the start of this year is very similar to the start of last year, what with the set-up, fragmentation, new characters and all. I didn't get fully invested in Heroes until a few episodes in for that very reason. Consequently, while I don't think these past couple of episodes have been amazing, I'm not willing to write the show off yet.

ETA: In the interest of full disclosure, I should mention that the inconsistencies/improbabilitie... seem to be more this year than last year and that is bothering me a bit. I mean, I've always had to fanwank the show, but it seems like I've had to do that more this year. (Like, for example, how can Hiro completely understand and be understood by people back in the 1600s? If you think about one of us being transported back to a time in which they spoke Shakespearian English, you'll see my problem with that. Oh, and why on Earth would Claire need to turn on her Bunsen burner to listen to a lecture on Charles Darwin? (Except, of course, that the writers/director wanted to have her put her hand in the flame.) And others, but I don't want to turn this into a different rant from what you intended!) I hope that they straighten all of these things out so I don't have to fanwank as much anymore. I know it is escapist entertainment, but I don't want it to turn into Prison Break in which I have to turn my brain in at the door before watching! they already saved the cheerleader...didn't you see the whole first season?! and they have to bring in new characters since so many died in the first season (DL, Mr Linderman etc). just be patient with it, or don't watch. but i will be watching, that's for sure! i love that show! I'm definitly losing interest in it. I like the first season episodes 1-10 but then EVERYBODY and their grandmother were getting powers. So many characters and really not that interesting anymore. I'm probably still gonna watch it for now but I might decided to stop.
