I used to watch CSI Miami, but this past season didn't keep up. Why was Ryan fired?

Answers: A private investigator caught Ryan paying off a $10,000 gambling debt that he owed to someone that was being investigated for murder. When Horatio asked him about it, Ryan tried to lie to him which got him into further trouble. At the end of the episode, someone from Internal Affairs informed him that he was fired since they couldn't trust him anymore with a gambling problem and his association with criminals.
Ryan quickly found a new job as a consultant for a news reporter, and he inadvertently got a carjacker killed by using his forensic knowledge to figure out who the guy is before the others could. Ryan realized that his new job wasn't doing anybody any justice, so he reconciled with Horatio.
Currently Ryan is waiting to be reinstated onto the force, and he has been taking various jobs in the mean time to try to prove that he can be worthy of being with the team again. I know you can buy CSI episodes from iTunes.
I think Ryan was fired for giving privy information about open cases to that blonde reporter. The first person is right about Ryan giving information to the reporter, but I also think there was something about some gambling and possibly outstanding debt he had with a suspect in a murder last season.
