Desperate housewives racist?
i don't get it. i read a bunch of reviews that after the september 30th episode, they won't watch the show again because it was racist against filipinos. how was it? can some one please explain......
Answers: teri hatcher's character susan goes to see the gynecologist. he tells her she may be going through menopause. she doesn't believe him and says something like- i just want to check out your diplomas here and make sure you didn't get your medical license in the Philippines
personally, i didn't think it was racist, just a little throw away joke, not that funny. but then again, I'm not Filipino i don't know,but i think you should call them and ask them that.I don't know why they would cancel that really. Well frankly i don't get it , it must have went over my head. Anywho.. the comment was made by teri hatcher's charater when to the doctor and he thought she may be going through early menapause. I'll still be watching and taping. As it turns out he went to her house and suprise she is expecting.. i think she was referring to filinos being either not very bright or not rich...which is not true of course..check the reviews again Because after Susan's doctor said she might be menopausal, she wanted to check out his medical diplomas to make sure "they weren't from some med school in the Philippines". ~~ maybe in the scene with the new desperate housewives husband.
tootles it's the line said by terri hatcher's character, susan meier. the doctor said that she may be going through early menopause and susan said she wants to check his diplomas to make sure he didn't get his degree from some philippine med school. of course, if you're filipino, you'd feel offended, especially if you're a doctor. it insulted philippine medical schools, i know it's supposed to be a joke but hey, if you're filipino i guess you'd feel the same way
