Why is the first episode of a series called a "pilot"?!
Question:
Why is the first episode of a series called a "pilot"?
I mean, why are they called this instead of somethng that, oh I don't know, doesn't fly planes?
Answers: I think it's because it's the episode responsible for either "launching" or "crashing" a potential new series. i guess it is because the show is "taking off" for the first time so to speak. because thats what they call it A Pilot Starts As A Show They Wand To Sell As A Series.
