Answers: DH's first episode of this season (09/30/07) will be on my TV in two hours...I'll let you know after I watch it if nobody gave you a definite answer by then...(by that time, it will be morning for you)
In the meantime, the overview on tv.com start with those words:
"The neighborhood is shocked when news about Edie's suicide spreads though Fairview."
So it does not sound good for Edie...then again, anything is possible on Wisteria Lane...(I'm betting she'll make it...)
Edit: I just saw the premiere...she does not die. The issue is resolved at the beginning of the episode and do not miss it because it's a pretty good one. Source(s):

We start the new season in Canada tonight and I can hardly wait. Edie is not dead, but she comes closer to death than she expected and there will be repercussions to her suicide attempt.
