I always thought it was Cyril Blamire (Michael Bates), Norman Clegg (Peter Sallis) & Compo Simonite (Bill Owen), however, a friend is adamant there was a character before Blamire. Which 1 of us is right?

According to their official website, you are correct. compo, cleggy, Cyril Blamire were the original characters i would say and my dad was a big fan of last of the summer wine so i would say you are right compo, cloggy and clegg. deffinatly your friend. don't ask me how i know, sad isn't it
