Its a question about an ep they had, called "lie to me"
and I always wondered why couldnt emily get that far into the FBI"? because her sister was in jail why would they effect her?
Answers: Well, I've always thought that it's because that the media drew public attention to the fact that she had a sister in jail. I just assumed that because that the FBI did background checks on Emily and her family at the time of her recruitment (when they didn't know where Ally was), that it was important to have a clean personal and family record. Maybe the thought in the FBI is that if you're related to anybody with a crimnal record, you might use your position in the FBI to your advantage, so she can't be promoted any further.... Sorry these are just my thoughts on it, I don't think Cheryl ever mentioned the exact reason why Emily couldn't get promoted any further. I agree w/ the above answer, they expect you to have a clean family record as well as work and criminal record.
