I'm watching what I believe is the 2nd episode of the 2007 season and I'm sooooo confused - been watching older episodes and this new one has thrown me for a huge loop!

Answers: He got fired in the episode "Burned" from season 5. He owes a gambling debt to a guy, and when the guy is questioned in an investigation, he tries to pressure Ryan into helping him. Ryan lies to Horatio about it and he's fired. He's reconciled with Horatio, and he's supposed to get back on the team. Source(s):
